The EEO-1, Component 2 Employers Must Report by September 30

Written by BirdDogHR | August 30, 2019

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) exists to ensure fair workplace practices for all demographics of employees. To ensure compliance, employers must file an EEO-1 Component 2 Form by September 30, 2019. The survey is to be completed annually by employers with at least 100 employees, both full-time and part-time.

As September 30th draws closer, here’s what employers need to collect to be within EEO-2 compliance.

What must be reported?

  • Pay information from each employees’ W-2 form
  • Hours worked

What are the guidelines?

  • Employers must provide a “workforce snapshot” for the period between Ocrober 1 and December 31, 2017, and between October 1 and December 31, 2018.
  • Employers must use the W2 Box 1 income as the compensation.

Note - Federal contractors with 1-99 employees are not required to report EEO-1 Component 2 data.

Deadline: September 30

What else?

  • Penalties for not filing can include a fine, imprisonment of up to five years, or both.
